I visited Zermatt from 30.01.1999-06.02.1999. Liked it
very much!! Nice (prepared) pistes, much snow, much
sunshine and very cosy pubs and bars. There is one
thing...the difference between a blue and a red piste is
not always very big in Zermatt...so ask people about how
the piste is if you can't ski very well. A nice
practicing piste is down at Sunnegga. Greetings, Hugo
van der Flier, Holland.

This page was very nice. I am doing a German project on
Switzerland and I found this page to be the most
helpful. Out of all my resources, this was the best. I
also love to snowboard. After seeing this page I really

looks like a pretty cool city and I wouldn't mind
travelling there this summer before I go to college.

We leave on February 11 for Zermatt, and I can't wait!
The pictures on this site are outstanding, and I can't
wait to see the views for myself! I'm a little worried
about the scarcity of snow, however. Anyone skied there
recently that can comment?
It is currently snowing.. Conditions will be
great for your arrival ! Follow the What's New? page for

Hi : I promised to report back about Zermatt.
Here goes....
TOWN: Beautiful, I loved walking around at night
SKIING: Varied, snow was a little scarce but the three
areas for skiing gave me plenty to enjoy, and you cannot
appreciate the Matterhorn until you see it from all its
angles! We had sunny skies for the week!
HOTELS: Swiss class! Excellent food, great hoteliers!
Big hello to the Hotel Orion!
FOOD: Mountain chalets were incredible. I salivate
thinking about Chez Vrony in Findeln where we dined for
three hours!!
BEST SKIING DAY: Skiing across to Italy, what an
adventure. While working my way back down to Switzerland
while the sun was setting, the sled dogs on the mountain
were howling across the valley with the Matterhorn
glistening in the background, an "other world"
experience that I will never forget!! Thanks Zermatt,
will see you again, I'm sure!! JOHN
Great to hear back from you John. It is always so
nice to hear back from people.

My first visit to Zermatt was in 1986 and I will be
returning on Feb. 26th for my 2nd visit. Quite a lot has
changed in my life personally since that first visit but
one thing that hasn't is a small group of friends that I
first met on that trip in 1986. The Bucks County Ski
Club was running a trip and I was invited to go by a
friend who was a member. On the plane ride to Europe I
met a diverse group of people and skied, partied,
laughed and enjoyed Zermatt with them for the next ten
days. A small contingent of that group has continued to
ski on a trip somewhere together every year since the
first Zermatt trip. We've become good friends who
socialize throughout the year and I've always felt that
the magic of Zermatt brought us all together for life.
Over the last 12 years we've travelled to many wonderful
ski locations but I look forward to Zermatt more than
any other location. Hope to see you there and make new
friends for life.

The first time I visited Zermatt, I was 15. I am now 52
and Zermatt stays the best place in the mountains among
many others. Zermatt is always a real village with a
particular feeling of being alone, so far away from the
rest of the world, so far away from the troubles of
one's life, and so near to anyone who knows Zermatt.
Just have walk at night in Zermatt and you'll feel in
love with this place. And it never ends.

You have one of the better web pages I've seen! The
pictures are magnificent. Some information I would like
to know, but didn't find are: Average temperatures in
Zermatt each month of the year, more information about
the hiking trails (i.e. distances, what type of
provisions are at the huts), and the Trift Hotel (I
didn't see it in the hotel list.) Can't wait to visit.
Good questions...I'll answer some of them here.
Mountain huts are normally 3-5 hours hiking time
above Zermatt. Water, soft drinks, beer and (sometimes)
meals are available. Blankets are provided. Best to
phone just in advance to confirm they have place.
Naturally food is not very cheap since everything has to
be helicoptered in. Most people bring their own stuff. Ed.

We got back on December 18th from a week in Zermatt
where we had a truly wonderful and memorable time. We
stayed at Mont Cervin (which we booked through your
site) and just loved it there. The service was
impeccable and the hotel was very romantic. We also
enjoyed the great weather, wonderful skiing (the slopes
were practically empty as you likely know) and the wacky
and wonderful people we met. We partied pretty hard with
some great people we met in Le Mazot (Mary the bar
tender and some locals) and they could not have been
nicer to us. I had dreamed for many years of seeing
Zermatt and that dream was realized due, to a large
extent, to your site - it inspired me, made planning the
trip easy (and less intimidating) and encouraged me to
save my money. The trip could not have been better and
it was the best way to celebrate our first wedding
anniversary. I am certain we will be back some day.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I wish there was a way
I could return the favor for what you have given us this
past year.

great time. It was wonderful to hear back from you. Ed.

Comments: Thank you for such a wonderful site!
Our family has always regarded Zermatt as our spiritual
home and so the site is a wonderful way to reawaken old
memories. I just can't wait to go back!!

Comments: Having been in Milan it is just a short
trip to Zermatt. But the weather stopped us from seeing
the beauty of the Matterhorn I had expected. We hope to
try again !

villages in Europe, and skiing there is really
wonderful, with the great slopes and views. This
homepage gives a good image of beautiful Zermatt.

Comments: My wife and I honeymooned in Zermatt in
1983, haven't back since - till now. Coming back in
November over Thanksgiving. Can't wait to see it again.
It is every bit as beautiful as your pictures show -
probably more so. I hear the cheese fondue calling me!
